Items and Upgrade Components in World of Warcraft
Upgrading items can be a great way to increase the value of your weapon and armor. Upgrades to common and magic equipment are not worth it, as rare or exclusive items will quickly outclass them.
Upgrades can be added to an item up to six times. Each upgrade will increase the gauge of the item.
Glyphs

Upgrades can only be applied to items with blue or higher rarity, which includes those dropped from end-chests in Factions and Nightfall campaigns. Items with upgrade components can't be used to make new items.
A suffix is an additional word or group of characters that adds meaning to another word. For instance -tion in create or phoria in feeling. Suffixes can also alter the part of speech of a word, such as German's 'er' or English's. They can also alter the spelling of the word. For example the word defenseless changes to unprotected.
There are a myriad of suffixes for adjectives, verbs and nouns and adjectives. Suffixes can change the meaning or pronunciation of words. Some have special rules. Suffixes can also be used to alter grammatical rules such as adding the suffix -ness to words to make them an adjective or the suffix -ic for a word to make it possessive.
